Farewell For Now

To all our friends and supporters,

First of all, we want to say a big thank you to everybody who has come out and helped us over the years. It’s been awesome getting to meet you, talk with you, and advocate for men and boys with you.

Unfortunately, over the past year and a bit, you’ve probably noticed that things have slowed down. Activity has been low. Frankly, the club has been hit pretty hard, mainly because most of our executives graduated and moved on. This left only two of us to keep things running, which turned out to be a lot more difficult than we expected.

As well, attracting new membership has always been difficult. Years ago we were already having conversations about how to attract more students to the club with the hopes that they would become interested in becoming executives to help plan and execute events. Barriers to attracting new faces have been that many students choose not to get involved with clubs and most of the ones that do aren’t looking to get involved with our type of advocacy. Most of our executive members have been people who helped create the club or sought it out because they were passionate about what it stood for.

Sadly, it’s gotten to a point where we don’t feel the club can continue as before. One of us will be graduating soon and the other is going to be on co-op for the next 8 months. We just don’t seem to have the time, people, or student interest to keep this ship afloat for much longer. So, we’ve decided to let the club go dormant until such a time that other students come along to revitalize it.

If you’re reading this and you’re an SFU student who would like to kickstart this club back to life, reach out to us on Facebook or our email. We’ll keep them monitored and we’d love to see somebody pick up the pieces.

Much love to you all! Be kind to each other and let the men and boys in your life know that you value them. Above all else, be the change you want to see in this world.
